Nook

Another e-book reader, this time by Barnes and Noble.
The Nook has a slick minimalist design, touch screen, and wifi enable. What I love the most: you can share your e-book to a friend for a period of two weeks at a time.

To compare how Nook measures up to his older brother the Kindle, see this.

Honda's revolutionary vehicles

Not only was I amazed at how the little machine works, but also the balancing act of the well dressed show person. :)

Click "cancel" to install the software

I've several times encountered a website that tries to trick you into installing a logging software. Users easily get confused over how to reject an installation such applications. This is one example.
I'll have to click "OK" to cancel installation and "Cancel" to go on with the installation of something that I do not want.

Gogirl!

Ever been in a situation where you are traveling, need to go to the bathroom but found the public toilet extremely dirty?

When I saw this report on CNN, it reminded me of all the public toilet that I had to endure while traveling. This little device helps women avoid dealing with dirty public toilet or even when there is no toilet at all. Think about the times when you are hiking, traveling, or camping...
To me, the idea is quite revolutionary. The freedom of being mobile is not always about carrying a small electronic device and being connected. :) For more on Gogirl go here.

Layar: An augumented reality browser

Layar collects content from Web2.0 services such as Twitter, Flickr, and location-based services such as, Google local search, and augument these information on your mobile phone. It is a perfect example of how you can support users location-based information need.
Think about this following application:
- advertisement: property, special store offers, hotel and restaurant advertisement.
- reviews: see what people say about a restaurant/pub/cafe before you decide to get in.
- events: announcement about "whats going on" near to where you are
- news: what's happening in your city & near by where you are.
- story telling: city walk tours
- social: go and find people you know or people with the same interest nearby.

Of course there is more to understand about information need than just looking for points of interest based on where you are. Read an in-depth discussion about location-based mobile search here.

Vertu

Vertu is a British company that focuses on luxury phones. They manage to transform a mobile phone from a simple communication device to a painfully expensive jewelry. Get a load of this:
- finest/flawless leather
- durable ceramic crafted into a keypad
- 18 carat gold shell
- made with the best material known to man: titanium, sapphire christal, ruby, and other precious metal/stones.

If that does not dazzle you. Here are some extras features:
- Vertu Fortress: claims to back up you contact list to a server located in a ex-military base in England.
- Vertu Conscierge: your style advisor only a single click away.

Technology wise. The phones is not very impressive. The UI is less then ideal and there is not many things you can do with it compare with other smartphones on the market. Of course, the value is in the prestige.
Considering the price tag around $5,750 to $26,550 per phone. I ask myself: "Who would buy this overly expensive device?" Well, it turns out Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna, Tom Ford and David Beckham to name a few.

Is it beautiful? Yes it is. Is it worth it? I'll let you decide. :)
